Frequently Asked Questions
What is HEIC and why does my iPhone use it?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. It produces files roughly half the size of JPG at the same quality, saving storage space on your device. The trade-off is that HEIC isn't supported everywhere yet.
Will converting to JPG reduce my photo quality?
The quality loss is negligible. HEIC and JPG are both lossy formats, and our converter uses a high quality setting (92%) by default. For most photos, the difference is invisible to the human eye.
Can I convert HEIC photos with Live Photo data?
Yes. The still image portion of a Live Photo is extracted and converted to JPG. The short video clip embedded in Live Photos is a separate file and isn't included in the JPG output.
Is there a file size or quantity limit?
There's no artificial limit. Since conversion happens in your browser, the only constraint is your device's available memory. Most modern devices handle batches of 500+ photos without issue.
Do my photos get sent anywhere?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never touch our servers. You can verify this by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads — conversion still works.
