What is HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. It offers better compression than JPG while maintaining quality, which saves storage space on your iPhone.
Why Windows can't open it
Windows doesn't natively support HEIC files. Microsoft requires you to install the "HEIF Image Extensions" from the Microsoft Store, which often costs $0.99 or simply doesn't work.
